While the Bride is usually thought of as the star of the show on the wedding day, we always like to show some love to the Groom! After all, a wedding isn't just about celebrating her story or his story; it's about celebrating the story they're writing together. It takes two to tango! Come wedding day, many of our Brides want to do a little special something for their Groom. Whether it's to calm wedding-day jitters or just show them how excited they are to say "I do", an intentional gesture is always appreciated.
We've seen some pretty sweet surprises over the years and we wanted to share some of our favorite ones with you here!
7 WAYS TO SURPRISE YOUR GROOM ON
YOUR WEDDING DAY
1. SEND A LOVE NOTE
You know the tradition- you're not supposed to talk to or see your Groom at the aisle, or at least until the first look. Sending a love note to your Groom can not only help ease some of his nerves, but it's also a great way to express how excited you feel and how ready to are to marry him (before you're standing in front of all your guests).
2. A SURPRISE "FIRST LOOK"
The first time we heard a Bride tell us she was planning to prank her groom during the First Look, we about hit the floor laughing. We always hear about how the Bride is so nervous on her wedding day, but we rarely talk about the Groom's nerves. This Bride wanted to use humor to create an icebreaker for her Betrothed.
During a typical First Look, the Groom has his back turned to his Bride. He turns around and, in an emotion-filled moment, sees her for the first time. But this Bride decided to put a twist on it. She thought it'd be hilarious to have her Groom patiently waiting, only to turn around and see one of his Groomsmen in a wedding dress! Believe us when we say that he was too busy laughing so hard to be nervous.
3. SING YOUR HEART OUT
Are you a musician? A secret songbird? Surprise your groom with a song! As you're walking down the aisle, blow his socks off by singing to him. You can express your love during your vows using lyrics to your favorite song. Are you a writer? You can sing him an original!
4. GIVE A PERSONALIZED GIFT
Nothing says timeless like a personalized gift on your wedding day. Whether it's a ring with your fingerprint engraved on the wedding band, custom cufflinks, or a special watch, your personalized gift will create an heirloom that lasts a lifetime.
5. FLY IN A FRIEND
Does your Groom have a childhood friend, family member, or college roommate that lives across the country? Surprise him by flying this person in on your wedding day! It will make his day extra special!
6. CREATE A VIDEO
Instead of writing a love letter, you can start creating small videos to compile into a special one. From the time you get engaged and whenever he does something for you, video yourself telling him what you love about him and why you love him. Put all the videos together to create a video love letter to gift him on the wedding day!
7. MAKE A GRAND EXIT
Rent a fancy car or limo for you guys to drive to the airport or final destination at the end of the night. It's not too expensive to rent a luxury car for one night. Find his dream car, book it, and surprise him at the end of the night! These are just a few ideas that we've seen over the years. Every time, the Groom feels so appreciated and so loved. A sweet surprise is a great way to put the icing on the cake of a beautiful wedding day. It only makes it feel that much more special, especially for your Groom.
